Downtime
November 24, 2001 | Comments OffThe website was down for about a month due to some technical difficulties. The server hasn’t found it’s new permanent home yet, but I’m working on it. Also, I took a trip to Seattle a few weeks ago and Seattle ROCKS. What an awesome place. I can’t wait to go there again.
Denver
October 7, 2001 | Comments OffI went to Denver, CO a few weeks ago, and like Las Vegas, i tried keeping a log/journal thing but didn’t have the time/discipline to maintain it. We also took an incredible amount of pictures, but they’re mostly boring and I haven’t had the energy to sort through them and pick out some favorites. On some random boring weekend I will do that. But for now you’ll just have to use your imagination.
Vegas
September 1, 2001 | Comments OffI got back from Vegas on Tuesday. I tried keeping a journal but I ended up to busy/lazy to do so. Instead we (specifically, Vlad) took a whole lot of pictures. I’m waiting for him to put up the collection and then I’ll just link to his. My camera broke, which is bad, but as a result, Vlad took all the pictures, which meant that I actually happen to be in some of them (for a change).
Touring
August 11, 2001 | Comments OffYep, it’s still summer. Fortunately, not all of the traveling has been done by local people traveling away. I’ve had a few friends come to visit me. A few weeks ago my brother came up and spent a week with me, and this past weekend Bryan came up and hung out with me for a weekend. Both occasions were fun. With Roger I got to do Bureau of Engraving and Printing, FBI, and Pentagon tours. With Bryan we didn’t do any organized tours because it was the weekend, so we just aimlessly wandered around the Mall. In exactly 2 weeks, I’m going to be in Las Vegas for a few days, and I might do some traveling in September, although I’m not sure to where. I’m open to ideas :).
Summer
June 23, 2001 | Comments OffYou can tell it’s summer when you can’t find a single person you know in town on the weekends. Everyone seems to just vanish on weekends, like a bizarre tribe of aliens comes down and abducts everyone for a few days, only to return them on Monday a little tanner and wasted.
I redesigned the site this weekend, trying to make it a little cleaner. Let me know if you have any feedback.
Catch-up
May 21, 2001 | Comments OffI haven’t given an update in way too long. So I’ll just summarize what I’ve been up to the last few months.
February – Nothing particularly special that I can recall. Maybe my mom visited me, but I’m not sure.
March – Katie and Dana came to visit in DC and stayed a few days. I had a lot of fun, and either they had fun too, or they pretended pretty well.
April – I went to a wedding in Guatemala. Here is the journal with pictures. Here are my favorite pictures. I also went to Bradenton to visit my old friend Jennifer, and then went to Disney with Vlad. All in the span of 2 weeks.
May – I just got back from Katie’s graduation. I hung out with Vlad, and Katie, and Katie’s family, and Katie’s friends for most of the weekend. Now I’m in Boston for a conference. It’s fairly cold. A little more warmth wouldn’t hurt.
There you go. My last 4 months in 10 sentences or less. Oh yeah. I also purchased a bunch of crap. I got my laptop/apartment wirelessly networked (802.11b), I got a guitar stand (which I’ve been practicing regularly — the guitar, not the stand), and a vacuum (exciting I know). I also bought a Sparc5 to replace one of my servers in Florida. I also bought that Vaio Superslim Pro I’ve been wanting for a long time. Yeah, I blew a lot of money, but I *REALLY* needed it… really!
DC Tour
February 10, 2001 | Comments OffIt’s been a very long while since I’ve added an entry. I’m still up in DC. Recently, I took a tour of the capital by foot. It was a wonderful experience and if I get some time, I’ll put all the pictures I took up. I saw pretty much everything: Library of Congress, Supreme Court, Union station, Whitehouse, the Capitol building, Air and Space Museum, lots of other museums, Lincoln Memorial, Korean Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, and FDR Memorial. I also so plenty of building from the outside. Overall it was an excellent tour and a fabulous couple of days.
I’ve also been working a lot, and that consumes the majority of my time. What else has happened since the last entry? I went home for Thanksgiving, then headed directly out west for an IM conference in Santa Clara, CA. Then came Christmas; I went home for a few days but was by myself for the most part except for New Years, when we had a nice big BBQ and had about 14 people over including Vlad, Katie and lots of my family. Then I headed back up to DC. I don’t think I’ve been home since. I meant to go to Argentina this month, but it’s not going to happen. However, I will almost definitely end up going in early April. I have a friend getting married in Guatemala on March 31st, so I will go to his wedding and swing down by Argentina for a week or two. I think that’s it for now.
I also rearranged the main page so it’s less cluttered. Here are links to the 1999 and 2000 articles. This should keep things a little tidier.
